Content management systems
A content management system (CMS) allows you to update your website yourself. There are a number of reasons why you may want to do this:
- You regularly want to update your website. If the information you want to give your customers changes regularly it may be more practical to do it yourself rather than have us do it for you.
- You want different people in your organization to be able to make changes to your website. A CMS allows you to have multiple user accounts with different levels of access. For example, you might want to be able the only person that can add and delete articles but be able to delegate the editing of existing text to someone else.
Proprietary systems can cost hundreds, even thousands, of pounds but in order to reduce development costs – and let us pass on the savings to our customers – we use a freely available, open-source CMS.
This system draws upon the combined expertise of developers from all over the world and the benefits it has over proprietary solutions are:
- lower upfront & implementation costs: you will not be paying hundreds or thousands of pounds for the development time of a proprietary CMS
- lower customization & maintenance costs: with thousands of developers producing added functionality to the CMS, the chances are that what you want is already available
- adding extra features and functionality to your site is easy and very cost-effective
